It was discussed by Jonathan Hatch on the Internet: "How To Get Rid of Argentine Ants." When Terro® solution (Sodium Tetraborate Decahydrate) has been exposed to air in ant baits it becomes dehydrated & recrystallizes. The numerous sharp-edged crystals may damage (lacerate) the delicate cells lining the gut of ants. Wayne's Trivia Note #1035 My neighbor's Canary Island date palm is infected by the larvae of South American palm weevil. In fact, it may be too late to save this beautiful large palm. The preserved larvae & pupae came from a palm at Palomar College. The winged adult was caught at Wayne's Word. This beetle is a serious problem in San Diego County.
