Large boulders of granodiorite: Home of granite night lizards.

The granite night lizard (Xantusia henshawi) lives in crevices and under exfoliating slabs of granodiorite boulders. It is secretive and seldom ventures from its hiding place except at night. It spends most of its life in darkness and has no eyelids.
