Callitropsis may be rejected by 2012 Botanical Congress and possibly changed to Xanthocyparis or another genus. Groupings of species, such as Hesperocyparis (Callitropsis), Chamaecyparis, Juniperus and Old World Cupressus represent separate branches (clades) in computer-generated phylogenetic trees.
